Head Coach

Bryan Lowery

Fort Zumwalt East proudly welcomes Bryan Lowery as Head Coach this season.

Coach Lowery brings a wealth of experience and passion for the game. He most recently served as the Head Coach at Parkway Central, following a successful 3 year stint as an Assistant Coach at Maryville University. Prior to that, he spent three seasons behind the bench with Washington University (St. Louis) at the ACHA Division III level. His coaching journey began at the high school level, where he spent two years as the Goalie Coach for Fort Zumwalt West.

A St. Peters, Missouri native, Lowery’s playing career included junior hockey with the St. Louis Frontenacs of the GLJHL (2011–2012). He then committed to Lindenwood University, competing in both Division II ice hockey and Division I inline hockey with the Lions.

Coaching Philosophy:

“I believe in running high-energy, high-tempo practices that emphasize speed and an aggressive forecheck. I consider myself a motivational coach who takes pride in bringing out the very best in my players.”

Assistant Coach

Joe Rupp

Fort Zumwalt East is excited to have Coach Rupp on the bench this season. With an impressive background as both a player and coach, he brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and a deep passion for the game of hockey.

Rupp began his playing career locally, skating for Duchesne High School and the St. Louis Selects, where he established himself as a skilled and dedicated athlete. His talent and drive led him to continue his career at the collegiate level with Missouri State University, competing at a highly competitive standard and gaining the kind of high-level playing experience that now informs his coaching style.

After his playing days, Rupp transitioned into coaching—quickly making his mark. He served as the Head Coach at Duchesne High School for five seasons, where he built a strong program and led the team to a Wickenheiser Cup Championship. His ability to develop players, foster teamwork, and instill a winning mentality was evident throughout his tenure.

Most recently, Rupp was part of the coaching staff at Parkway Central, serving as an Assistant Coach during the 2024–2025 season. His presence behind the bench brought stability, technical expertise, and a strong emphasis on player development.

Known for his player-first approach, Rupp prides himself on motivating athletes, teaching the finer details of the game, and creating an environment where players can succeed both on and off the ice. His combination of playing experience, championship success, and coaching versatility make him a tremendous asset to the Fort Zumwalt East program.

Assistant Coach

Bill Hansen

Fort Zumwalt East is proud to welcome back Coach Hansen for his third season as an Assistant Coach. Over the past two years, Hansen has played a key role in the growth and success of our program, bringing consistency, energy, and a team-first attitude to the bench.

Most notably, he was an integral part of the coaching staff that guided the 2024–2025 squad to a Founders Cup Championship, helping our players reach new heights and achieve one of the most memorable accomplishments in program history.

Coach Hansen’s strength lies in his ability to connect with players, build trust, and translate strategy into action on the ice. His attention to detail, commitment to player development, and passion for the game have made him a valuable leader within the coaching team.

As he enters his third year, Coach Hansen is eager to continue pushing the program forward, developing our athletes’ skills, and ensuring Fort Zumwalt East remains a competitive force in the league.
